Heel Pain

Heel pain is a very common foot problem. Most often, the cause of heel pain isn't serious but the pain itself is sometimes severe and can be disabling.

The pain usually occurs underneath your heel (plantar fasciitis) or behind it, where the Achilles tendon attaches to the heel bone (Achilles tendinitis).

Your podiatrist can determine the cause of your heel pain. Heel pain rarely requires surgery and most common treatments include rest, stretching, strengthening exercises, and the use of orthotics.
